Starting nursery and school

Sending your child your child to nursery or school for the first time can be a real challenge for many children and parents.

How this milestone is managed can have a significant effect on the child’s experience and development. It can be a time of exciting change and new experiences but also a time of uncertainty where your child’s surroundings are not the same.

Children will be separated from their main carer and will have challenging experiences. Getting this transition right is really important for your child.

Transition has been described as an ongoing journey and it is important to remember that your child will make numerous transitions in their life. Trying to ensure their first transition to care outside of the home is one of excitement and enjoyment can be rewarding for both parent and child.
